Few blog post ago, I've blogged about Essential Oils for Anxiety.
I've been quite frequently "smelling" or a better word for it is inhaling Essential oils by doTERRA and today Teacher Nicole from EO4Kids will educate me and my fellow classmates for DIY Soap making infused with Essential oils. This is how my final soap looks like:
Making your own soap at home is easy, frugal, creative, and fulfilling. There's something satisfying about taking a bar of your own homemade soap into the bath or shower with you. Whether you are looking for a more natural alternative to commercial soap or are just a crafty person looking for a new creative adventure, making soap is fun and not too complicated.
Firstly, I will need to choose the mold and the fragrance of the Essential oils. After much consideration, I mixed orange + peppermint together. It does sounds like a weird combination but it smells good.
Making soap with a melt and pour base is sort of like making a cake with a cake mix. With melt and pour soap making, you may buy pre-made blocks of uncolored, unscented soap “base” from a craft soap supplier. You melt the soap base by double boiler. When the soap is fully melted, add in the fragrance and colors. After it fully melted, put it in a mold and you’re done. The soap is ready to use as soon as it hardens.
For my case, I'm going to make two layers. The first soap piece will be done in the teddy mold...
...And the will second will be adding transparent soap piece into a squary mold so my teddy soap piece can dived into it.
Due to errors in measurement of soap weight, my teddy soap piece became very outstanding because it can still breathe after the final soap piece is completed!
Creative classes like this one, is always a good experience to have fun and relax. I'm glad I've participated in this workshop.
We all know that many of the products we used these days contains chemical that may be harmful to our body in the long run and I think learning how to make our own handmade soap is just one step ahead for learning how to survive without commercial unnatural products.
Do you know most of the commercial soap contains these Ingredients?
-sodium cocoyl isethionate (synthetic detergent)
-stearic acid (hardener)
-sodium tallowate (sodium salt of cow fat)
-water sodium isethionate (detergent/emulsifying agent)
-coconut acid (the sodium salt of coconut oil)
-sodium stearate (emulsifier, also used as a cheap stabilizer in plastics)
-sodium dodecylbenzonesulfonate (synthetic detergent, skin irritant) sodium cocoate or sodium palm -kernalate (sodium salts of coconut or palm kernel oils)
-fragrance (synthetic scent, potential allergen, common skin irritant) sodium chloride (table salt used as a thickener)
-titanium dioxide (whitener, also used in house paint)
-trisodium EDTA (stabilizer, used in industrial cleaning products to decrease hard water, skin irritant)
-trisodium etidronate (preservative, a chemical that is used in soaps to prevent soap scum)
-BHT (preservative, common skin irritant)
A natural soap is usually formed by combining plant-based oils and butters that are rich in nutrients, vitamins and antioxidants. These are the type of ingredients that your skin, hair and body need and will love.
