Mini Charity Organisation you should know too

Lend a helping hand to these mini local charity organizations. Unlike bigger charity organizations, small organizations may face a challenge when it comes to reaching out.

Here's how we can help by spreading the words through our social media, website, or blog. Other than spreading the words, you can also make contributions to these charity organizations.

I've listed down a few mini Charity organizations that you may not know and they're always looking for contributions for the needy people. You may contribute in different ways, for different people.

1) "Donate Your Zakat today and change someone's life" as quoted on Pertapis Welfare
Zakat is the concept of obligatory charity in Islam. It’s how we give back, out of our own wealth, to those less fortunate. The word ‘zakat’ comes from the Arabic ‘to purify’, Allah SWT says in the Quran: “take from their wealth so that you might purify and sanctify them” (9:103). By recognizing that one’s wealth is a gift from Allah (SWT) and giving away a portion of it to others, a Muslim purifies the rest of his or her wealth from greed and miserliness. In a world of gross social and economic inequality, it is vital for Muslims to uphold the tradition of Zakat.

Pertapis Welfare Trust Fund is established in 1984 with the objective of providing welfare assistance to the poor, needy, and the lower-income community. The organization supports monthly of 450 poor and needy families, which include food distribution and empowering education for the less fortunate families. They also provide free tuition for the needy children.

2) A Meal Programme for the Community, by the Community. Free Food For All (FFFA) is a Registered Charity in Singapore that serves the less privileged of all race and religions. They serve the nutritional needs of individual families and provide empowerment campaigns.

3) Hopes in Meals aim to deliver food and companionship to those who need it most and believe in spreading hope and helping others get back up after they have fallen. As they have quoted "Love of helping others requires no common language". All that is needed is a heart to serve. And regardless of their backgrounds, all volunteers have this generous and kind heart in them. If donating money is not a thing for you, but the action is... you may consider becoming one of the Volunteers here

4) Kampong Kakis collects your pre-loved unuse items for the Dormitories, foreign workers, as a form of Gifting. I've personally got to know this platforms by giving out items that I rarely use, and bless it for people who need it more than me. Some of the items that their contributors offer may be unopen or brand new, and some pre-loved and usable at the same time. If donating money is not a thing for you, you may consider digging some useful things from home that you rarely use, and can be practical and useful for these foreign workers.

“Kampong Kakis” started up as a community platform for people to practice the 3Rs meaningfully, and to embark on the zero-waste journey together. They have now expanded to help foreign kakis in need.

Some of which gifts they received can print error souvenirs and gifts that people don't quite like or use it. Think out of the box, don't throw it away. Bless it to someone who can utilize it better. =)

5) Michelle is not quite an organization, but she helps gather items for donation to poor kids in the Philippines and Sri Lanka. Well, never take this kind of person for-granted. I met Michelle through giving away my unused items as well. She is whole-heartedly determined, she could travel by foot and public transportation to collect all that she can get from people who want to bless their items for these poor kids. I somehow hope, there's volunteers who are willing to drive her around to pick up items. She is also a volunteer at Willings Hearts Charity. If you have unwanted items that are suitable for children, don't hesitate to contact Michelle and she will arrange to pick it up from you.

6) For more than 25 years, Tzu Chi Foundation has been providing direct aid and care to underprivileged and disadvantaged communities. Currently, they are focusing on Comprehensive Aid for the Underprivileged, Assistance & Support for HIV Patients, Interim Assistance for Needy Kidney Patients, Empowering Needy Students, Patient-centred Healthcare, Character-building & Moral Education for All Age Groups, Promoting & Instilling Humanistic Values, Environmental Education and Overseas Humanitarian Relief.

7) The Food Bank Singapore is a registered charity founded in 2012. Their mission is to end food insecurity in Singapore through redistribution of food to more than 360 member beneficiary organizations.

You can contribute by dropping off your unopened and unexpired non-perishable food at any of their bank boxes located islandwide! Visit www.foodbank.sg for the full list of locations under the tab to donate food.

8) Yong-en Care Centre is a community service started by Fairfield Methodist Church. Providing value-added community services and support for disadvantaged individuals and families in Chinatown and beyond.

Donating to the causes you care about not only benefits the charity organization themselves, but it can also be deeply rewarding for you too. Millions of people give to charity on a regular basis to support causes they believe in, as well as for the positive effect it has reflected in their own lives.

Having the power to improve the lives of others is, to many people, it's a privilege.

Even if you don't have anything to donate, Just help to share this post to spread the word!
