Affordable Luxury Stay in Bali: My Experience at ZIN Canggu Resort & Villas

I was pleasantly surprised by the luxurious yet laid-back experience at Zin Canggu Resort & Villas. Even though it was just a short 3-day, 2-night stay, it genuinely felt like a little retreat — one that left me wishing I had a few more days to soak it all in.

From the moment we arrived, the staff greeted us warmly and helped with our luggage — such a small gesture, but one that instantly made us feel cared for.

Additionally, there is a designated luggage storage room located behind the reception for guests’ convenience.

What followed set the tone for the rest of our stay: a refreshing welcome drink, a complimentary cocktail, and a free 15-minute foot massage that turned out to be better than I expected.

These little touches made the whole experience feel even more thoughtful. I didn’t get the chance to try the complimentary spin class or topup for a full body massage — as I didn't cater in the time for such luxury during my trip. If I had stayed longer, I definitely would’ve explored more of what they had to offer.

The rooms themselves were a dream.

I stayed in a double bed room alone while my friends shared a two single bed room that came with a larger living area and a small kitchen.

Both rooms were similarly priced (mine at around $253 and theirs at $271 for two nights), but each had its own charm.

My room opened up fully to the outside, blending seamlessly with the garden just beyond — it gave off such a tranquil, “inside-outside” vibe. The bed was so comfortable I could’ve spent an entire day just resting there.

The hotel grounds are beautifully designed — lush, natural, and full of character. Walking to our rooms felt like strolling through a landscaped garden with tropical forest elements.

There are two different pool areas, perfect for a refreshing dip or just lounging around.

A fresh coconut drink (yes, also complimentary!) - it's so huge and generous, we can't finish it. This made the perfect poolside prop too, for pictures.

One moment that stood out to me was when I discovered an issue with the powerpoints in my room. I flagged it to the staff, and someone came promptly to fix it on the spot — just before I was about to head to bed. It may seem small, but those are the moments that really reflect great service.

Beyond the rooms and amenities, Zin Canggu has something for every kind of traveller.

There’s a lovely on-site café, a co-working space that’s peaceful and thoughtfully designed, a gym, a massage parlour, and even a quite huge retail shop.

Not last, and certainly not least, the breakfast at Zin Canggu truly exceeded expectations — both in variety and presentation. Some of the options were delightfully healthy without compromising on taste, while others featured a creative fusion of Indonesian ingredients with subtle Western influences. It made each morning feel like a well-balanced and flavorful start to the day, offering something comforting yet uniquely local.

If you’re bringing work along with you, the workspace makes it easy to stay productive — shaded, quiet, and comfortable. I liked knowing that I could find a balance between relaxing and getting things done, without needing to leave the hotel grounds. (Maybe, next time I would bring my work over... Haha! WFA!)

And for those who do want to explore, the beach is just a short 5-minute walk away. So whether you’re an indoor soul who loves staying in or an outdoor person looking to explore Canggu’s vibrant beach life, Zin Canggu caters to both worlds.

From the calming scent of the in-room body wash and lotion to the raw natural finishes and open-air spaces, Every detail at Zin Canggu felt intentionally crafted, yet refreshingly down-to-earth. It’s rare to find a hotel that balances luxury, nature, and warmth so effortlessly.

I truly enjoyed my time here, and if you're ever in Bali, especially in Canggu, I highly recommend checking it out — even just for a short stay, like mine. Zin Canggu is the kind of place that makes you feel like time slows down, and for a little while, that’s exactly what I needed.
