Discover the Hidden Gems of Johor Bahru: All the Best Activities in One Spot!

Do you often find that the cool and nice places in JB are always packed with people on the weekends? If so, I have a great recommendation for you. Try Permas City. It’s a wonderful spot that’s usually less crowded but still offers fantastic value-for-money dine-in places and a shopping experience.

You’ll find a variety of restaurants, cafes, and shops all in one convenient location. It’s definitely worth a visit if you're looking for alternatives to avoid the usual weekend crowds.

My first stop was PS Abalone at Permas City, inspired by my previous visit at Eco Galleria and still craving for it. At PS Abalone, you can get a satisfying bowl of abalone soup for less than SGD $10. The Abalone Kuey Teow was the best part of the meal at Eco Galleria and I ate it here at Permas City as well, it was really flavourful and worth trying. The Redbean Milk Tea is really good too!

If you’re after delicious, budget-friendly food, PS Abalone is a great place to check out in Johor Bahru. Of course, if you're visiting Permas City, there are plenty of other food options and things to explore.

If you're up for a food adventure where you can customize your meal by picking and mixing various ingredients, and especially if you have a love for instant noodles, then Ko Amie at Permas City is the perfect spot for you.

The café has a very spacious feel, and I absolutely adore the wall display of noodles where you can choose your favourites. The hot water station is also very convenient and user-friendly.

As I guide you through the spots to visit and shop at Permas City, it's worth noting that this area is a unique blend of indoor and outdoor spaces. While it's not a traditional shopping mall, it offers several indoor venues, like this Mickey-themed café, which is especially great if you're visiting with children.

At its Neighbouring Shopfront, Aunt Wu’s shop features bone soup rice noodles, with an enticing promo display of some "FREE" food items showcased in the glass window.

Next, let me take you to the corner of this spot where you’ll find cute stuffing wheel cakes up for sale, along with a selection of bubble tea drinks if you’re craving something sweet to quench your thirst.

The café spans two storeys, offering a cozy spot to sit and relax while enjoying your meal. From the corner of the building, you can also take in a great, wide view.

Right across from Permas City is the famous Warakuya (in the picture below), a stand-alone spot that's worth a visit. If you're not worn out, you can also explore the nearby individual buildings for more discoveries.

But if you prefer to stay within Permas City, there's plenty to keep you occupied. What I’ve shared here are just a few recommendations for you to consider.

I've covered plenty of food options, but if you don't want to leave empty-handed, there's a HP outlet where you can find affordable gadgets, laptops, and more.

If you’re after something more general and a bit cute, the Starbucks here offers some charming bags that come with snacks inside. However, I’m not sure if these are seasonal items or if they’re available year-round.

Finally, if you’re a coffee lover who’s had your fill of Starbucks back in Singapore, be sure to check out OFFFFive Coffee here. The interior has an awesome vibe that’s worth experiencing.
