When I visited Penang, I didn't have to worry about choosing a hotel since my Malaysian friend had everything perfectly planned for our trip. She recommended this particular hotel, and I must say, it turned out to be a great choice overall. The location was ideal as well.

However, there was one aspect of the hotel that left us a bit unsettled—the extended portion of the building. While the original section of the hotel was charming and cozy, the extended area had an entirely different atmosphere.
It felt a little eerie, almost like something out of a mystery novel. One of us was assigned a room there, and it was immediately apparent that the vibe was completely different from the main part of the hotel. It was darker, quieter, and had a certain "creepy" aura to it that we didn’t expect. (no pics for creepy room)
If you’re someone who cares about the overall feel of the space, I would definitely recommend double-checking the room you're being assigned.
On the bright side, the original rooms in the main section of the hotel were absolutely lovely. They were beautifully decorated, with a nice mix of modern and traditional touches that made the space feel inviting and stylish. The beds were super comfortable, and the amenities were all top-notch, which made up for any discomfort we felt with the extended part of the hotel.
Everything from the bathroom to the room decor was well thought out.
The corridor boasts charming decor, making the walk to the ground-level room a pleasant experience. However, the second story feels rather ordinary by comparison.
If you’re booking here, just a heads-up—make sure you confirm the room type and remind the staff to give you the room you’ve specifically booked. If you’re someone who really cares about the ambiance and vibe of the room, it’s worth clarifying that you’d like to stay in the main part of the hotel, as the extended area might not be to everyone's taste.
Overall, despite the little hiccup with the room assignment, we had a wonderful stay. The hotel’s central location, the excellent service, and the charming original rooms more than made up for the odd experience in the extended section. We left Penang feeling relaxed and happy, and I’d definitely recommend this hotel to anyone visiting, with a little caution about the room selection.
